The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Snow Shoveler to help provide snow removal services for commercial properties. This individual will be responsible for shoveling and moving snow off walkways, building entrances and handicap parking spots during snowstorms. They will also be responsible for ice control and applying salt, sand or snow melt where needed. This is a seasonal, on-call opportunity that could provide further employment opportunities and potential growth opportunities beyond snow removal in the future. Shift times will vary dependent upon weather conditions, however, the average is typically 10–12-hour shifts (could be more or could be less).
Your Responsibilities • Shoveling and moving snow off walkways, building entrances and parking spots to ensure safe and clear client properties during winter conditions • Apply salt, sand or snow melt to mitigate icy or slippery walkways to maintain safe winter weather conditions for our client’s assigned properties • Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs for shovels, snow blowers or other equipment promptly • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while operating designated equipment • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and maintain a strong focus on safety • Collaborate with team members to efficiently complete snow removal tasks • Effectively communicate with dispatch or supervisors to received assignments, report completed tasks and provide updates on road or property conditions and any issues encountered • Maintain accurate records of work performed including dates, times, areas cleared and materials used via designated tracking system(s) • Stay informed about weather forecasts and conditions to anticipate and respond effectively to changing weather patterns • Utilize safe practices by adjusting snow removal techniques and ice mitigation strategies based on weather conditions, property conditions and the type of snow accumulation • Operate auxiliary equipment such as salt spreaders, shovels and de-icing equipment as necessary to enhance property safety • Participate in training sessions related to safe snow operations, equipment handling and emergency response protocols
Your Experience • 1+ year of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or snow removal and ice management • Punctuality and commitment to working scheduled shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and Holidays, as needed (hours worked will vary and is contingent upon the frequency of snow events and the amount of snowfall throughout the season) • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays depending on weather conditions • Physical stamina and ability to work in cold and challenging weather conditions for extended periods of time • Attention to detail and strong commitment to safety • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. and work in bending, squatting, sitting and standing positions as needed • Must have reliable transportation to get to designated worksite in snow and winter weather conditions • Must have appropriate cold weather gear including waterproof warm clothing, gloves and insulated water-proof boots
Our Benefits • Pay range is between $18-25/hour depending on experience • Discretionary bonuses may be provided due to working long storms or Holidays • An end of season snow bonus will be paid out based upon performance (reliability, punctuality, snow safety, client satisfaction) and the number of storms worked throughout the season • Flexible schedule • Certification or Licensing assistance
